RE: Progressive RV Insurance requires you to have another car?

Where is the "fraud" in the requirement? While they do require a second vehicle, they do not require that vehicle be insured by Progressive. My motorhome is with Progressive, but my toad is with Allstate.

RE: unlimited data

The unlimited plan is $145.00 / month and a $199.00 sign-up fee. About the only thing it has going for it is that it is multi-carrier. I'll stick with my $25 / month Visible plan. Visible uses Verizon towers.. Verizon towers are FULLY emergency power backed and most have multiple internet feeds (Cable. fiber and other) Making them the most reliable. To be clear, Visible is a division of Verizon.

RE: Electrical Question-Breaker panel does not cut all power

By "breakers" are you taking about turning off the circuit breakers that control the 120 volt outlets and appliances? The 12 volt circuits are usually protected by fuses.

RE: Roadside assistance woes!

Does your RV have working leveling jacks? If it does, use them to raise the rig out of the holes while you fill them in. You may need to put blocks under the jack pads to get them to lift high enough. If you don't want to lift the entire RV, just do one end at a time.

Thanks Dutch! Appreciate the info.I looked everywhere to find that info. No thanks to me except maybe for asking the question. Bud "Enblethen" gets the credit for the link to the info. ;)

RE: Recreation.gov

You may want to read through this article. Long term stay Ok, thanks! That explains where the tab is, and why I haven't seen one on any of the campgrounds I've checked so far.

RE: Recreation.gov

Where are you seeing the long term tab? I just checked the Salt Springs Recreation Area campground, and don't see it.

RE: Are most toilets pretty much interchangeable

We installed a Thetford Aqua-Magic Style Plus toilet in our first Class A in 2008 to replace a damaged toilet. In 2013 we moved the toilet to another new to us Class A that we still have and are still enjoying the Style Plus. The porcelain bowl is easy to clean and the residential seat is a bonus. The only repairs we've made in all that time is replacing a couple of ball seals and a spring.

RE: Has anyony upgraded to Android 13 on cell phone?

Folks, My phone forced me to upgrade to android 13 about three weeks ago. I get an annoying message appearing when I close apps down telling me how many closed and how much memory has been freed up. I really do not need to know this and it is more annoying as this message box at the bottom of the screen appears for about 4-5 seconds. Not a deal breaker but annoying. T-mobile tells me to call motorola, Motorola tells me to call google. Anyone experience what I describe and anyone know a work- around? I upgraded my Samsung Galaxy A51 to 13 some time back, and haven't seen anything like that.

RE: I-77 WV

I have two NY issued E-ZPasses for my motorhome. One is configured with a vehicle class for four axles for when we have our toad with us, and the other for two axles. Both are included in the NY Thruway's "Motorhome Plan" where we get charged standard passenger per axle rates instead of the higher large vehicle rates trucks and buses pay. The transponder classes tell other E-ZPass states how many axles we have, but we don't get any extra discounts of course. I assume the other states also have their own axle count detection systems as well.

RE: Propane Refills

I usually get 20lbs in a 20lb cylinder (by weight). Not 20lbs less 20%. are you filling an old tank with the old-style valve? If not, there is no way to get that much in it unless the place filling it is breaking the law. in a 20lbs cylinder, which are the same size they have always been, with the new valves and regulations they can only hold 16lbs or 3.89 gal. if a place is telling you they put 20lbs in or charges you for that, they are ripping you off or breaking the law filling the cylinders. I'm a certified LP refiller and trainer. I've been filling LP tanks of various sizes for over 40 years. My 20 LP cylinders when filled by opening the "spitter" (Fixed Liquid Level Gauge) until liquid flows weigh out at 20 lbs plus TW. My 30 lb cylinders at 30 lbs plus TW, and my 40 lb cylinder at 40 lbs plus TW. The 16 lbs you claim is incorrect. The LP capacity is 80% of the total water capacity of the cylinder, not 80% of the rated LP weight. A 20 lb rated cylinder holds 4.6 gallons of LP. A 30 lb rated cylinder holds 7 gallons of LP, and a 40 lb cylinder holds 9.4 gallons of LP. Actual total weights are a function of the LP weight plus the cylinder Tare Weight and minor variations due to ambient temperature differences.

RE: Best way to tow with mobility issue

After hip surgeries, can still do most things, but have trouble getting down low. I want to tow using a tow bar rather than trailers, dolly, etc. they seem fairly easy, but which bar setup requires the least effort getting down low? N SA, Blue ox, Roadmaster..? I'm slowly recovering from a stroke last spring that affects my walking, balance, and manual dexterity. I still manage to handle our motorhome including hooking up the toad. I only have to bend at the waist some to hook up our Blue Ox tow bar and cables, but a lot depends on how low or high the base plate installed on the toad connection points are. That varies from model to model toad as well the brand and model of the base plate. The Blue Ox base plate on our RAV4 extends the tow bar connection points through the grill about 20" off the ground. Some other brands bring the connection points out under the front valance, just a few inched off the ground. Whether a Blue Ox setup would be best for your situation would take some serious investigation and comparison on your part. Don't forget a braking system for the toad also. Some take more work to install each time you travel, while others have a one time installation followed by a simple cable, quick disconnect, etc. at hook up time.

RE: Propane tank replacement options?

A rack fabricated to hold two or three 20 lb BBQ cylinders upright could work using an automatic switchover regulator setup.

RE: Proper Power Receptacle For Home?

An RV electrical panel like this is best way to go. Wire from your main electrical panel with wire correctly sized for the distance. Number 6 would handle the load. The breakers in that panel look to be Canadian, not US type. CHINT breakers are made in China and used pretty much worldwide, including in the US. CHINT breakers

RE: Interlock kit

It seems you're trying to use a 220 volt service panel with two independent 120 volt sources. Each source can only power the breakers on it's own bus. If the inverter is on full time, then place only the breakers you want powered by the inverter on that bus, with the others on the shorepower bus.

"Mac the Fire Guy" has passed away

Mac McCoy, better known to many of us as "Mac the Fire Guy" from his many fire prevention talks and displays at various rallies, etc., has passed away. I found out this morning from former RV'er Nick Russell's blog remembering Mac. Rest in peace Mac, you will be missed: Rest in Peace, Mac
